Our Journey

2010
  • July - We got Married! We knew we wanted children, but didn't want to start trying right away
2011
  • June- My mom was hospitalized after unexpectedly going in to heart failure. Doctors were not sure if she would make it and she was put on the top of the list for transplant.  Throughout the year, she miraculously recovered enough to not need a transplant, but was still limited in her activity. Much of 2011 was spent at the hospital with her that year and visiting her at home
2012
  • January - Began talking about starting a family
  • February: Mr. V's Father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. (TTC plans put on hold to help take care of his father)
  • March: Mr V's father rapidly declined from the cancer and passed away
  • May: Decided to "casually try to get pregnant" HA! Little did we know how difficult it would be!
2013
  • January: Started actively TTC
  • May: Found out we were Pregnant!
  • August: - Lost baby Luca Adriana to miscarriage at 11 weeks
  • We took some time to heal both physically and mentally
  • November :Started TTC again but cycles were irregular
2014
  • January: Ultrasounds and blood tests to figure out why cycles were off
  • April: 6 month mark of TTC again, still no luck, suspected I have low progesterone, began taking progesterone post ovulation
  • June: HSG test, discovered I have uterine polyps
  • July: Had polyps removed
    • July 31st - Found out we were Pregnant again! (with "baby beluga"/Elisa)
  • August - subchorionic hemorrhage found and I was put on bed rest
  • September: Moved from full bed rest to modified bed rest
  • November
    • November hemorrhage resolved, we looked like we were in the clear!
    • November 18th, anatomy scan. We found out we are having a girl!! But they also noticed she is not growing as she should
    • November 24th - our fears were confirmed at the MFM, baby girl was 3 weeks behind, had low amniotic fluid and was diagnosed with asymmetrical IUGR, Doctors gave us a less than 10% chance that she would survive to delivery, but we wanted to Carry to Term or however long she would stay with us.
  • December - continued to enjoy every moment with her.  She fought so hard, but her growth continued to decline
2015
  • January: January 20th, 2015 Elisa Josephine was stillborn at 28 weeks
    • All test came back that there were no genetic issues on either her or the placenta.  It looks as if the placenta never attached correctly (reason for hemorrhage) and that it was a fluke, just bad luck.  We are grateful for the fact that this means we could try again (after a lot of emotional and physical healing), but also deeply saddened knowing our baby girl was perfect but the placenta just didn't work correctly
  • February:
    • Begin NaPro charting and meet with NaPro doctor
    • Find I am homozygous for the C677t mutation. Jury is still out on the full effects of this on my past pregnancies, but being homozygous for C677t can cause issues with metabolizing folic acid, and cause clotting issues
